Burst Blood Vessels Mouth

Report, pictures and documents

In response to the request for views on the project to stabilize the sandy beaches of the dangers and Magdalena, answered and sent a proposal:

I know first hand the evolution of the beach and I was born and live above it, in the houses of Yllera, for fifty-eight years.
As you can see in the pictures 1 and 2, the first of 1880 and the second in 1900, there was sand on the beach. Pictured
3, 1905, has drawn the line of wall Yllera villas and the polo field. The photos
4, 5 and 6, which can be seen building houses Yllera, dated 28 April 1947, shows perfectly the state of the beach with the walls above.
Prior to 1969, built by the Port Works Board of the jetty located on the beach at Bikini-called "wall input sand to the beach of the Magdalene." As a result of this work is emptied the sand from the beach, just the opposite effect to what was built the wall.
This caused the disappearance of bare sand in the foundations of the walls, both of Yllera like the tennis and polo field, so that the representative of the Administration of the English Royal Family, Don Fernando María de Pereda, President of Tennis, Antonio Zúñiga, and my father, Don Alfonso Yllera, write to the Board of the Port of Santander, dated February 13, 1969 warning about the responsibility of that Board at the barefoot of foundations outlined above, a document that reproduce DOCUMENT 1. Puerto
The Board responds with a letter dated February 21, 1969, I play as DOCUMENT 2, pledging to "carry out the work required to stop the disappearance of the sand" and "carry out the necessary repairs to the properties adjacent to the coast and beach cited. (The walls of Yllera, Tennis Palace and above).
The Board strengthens the foundation wall with a small corner of the wall of Mr. Yllera, the beach filled with sand by dredging "Virgen de la Peña", opening in the wall of the Bikini Beach five or six eyes, which currently exist, so that the sand in the east of the wall passes these to the beach of La Magdalena.
In 1972, people above written back to the port authority said that the erosion continues. (DOCUMENT reproduce written as 3, and pictures with numbers from 7 to 12), asking that "serious and comprehensive engaged estudis on this phenomenon," and suggesting that would solve the problem by removing much of the wall built on the beach in Bikini , which was never done.
From this date, according to my memory, and until remodeling of the access ramp to the beach from the street Magdalena Horadada, I calculate that happened in 2001, perform two or three sand-filled important. That is, note, in thirty years.
The remodeling of the beach access from the street Horadada, about 2001, which penetrates much more on the beach that is already in existence, brings new problems. One year after its implementation lowers the level of sand making impracticable access this machine, and making it difficult for pedestrians.
As the only access ramp to the west, users of the eastern part of the beach can not leave her because, having dropped the height of sand at high tide covers the waist.
To solve this problem of inaccessibility of the new ramp, every year and each of them, since you ran the above work, the area is filled with sand Dangers, leftovers, and Bikini Beach , which also left over, pouring about 50 meters east and west of the resort pier.
In view of this, by simple deduction of cause and effect, fleshing the beach following the work of such access, in about 100 meters.
The proposal that comes to mind is simply to modify the access ramp to the beach taking it back to the parking lot and down the principle of the pier about 10 meters so that there is the bottleneck that exists today between it and the pier, which causes the tides and southerly wind speed accelerated erosion at this area. Other topics

last three or four years are removed by cleaning tractors, from September to April, an average of three or four tons of algae per day, this being a natural element for fixing the sand. This makes about a thousand tons per year of algae removed.
The Wall Bikini Beach has resulted in four kids have been left paraplegic due to their existence and bad design, because their walls are not vertical or smooth.
With regard to the proposed breakwater in the area of \u200b\u200bthe promontory of St. Martin, west of the dangers, we see no reason breakwater project a supply of sand where it enough.

About the Study for "stabilization of the Magdalena beach-Hazards" held by the Department of Oceanography and Coastal Road School.

We have consulted the report on page
http://www.emisarios.unican.es/playa/ , since neither in nor Costas Road School we have a copy, and it turns out that PDF miss at least the chapters 1 and 3 of the study.

As we read we noticed several errors:
1 / It is said that the wall was built Bikini beach, and as we explained in documents and photos, it happened Otherwise, it is empty. The beach caused the dredge "Virgen de la Peña" by the actions of the former port authority.
2 / In support of my arguments about the consequences of the remodeling had access to the beach from the street Horadada, we can see the photos of the study 2.32 and 2.39, before his execution, and 2.33 after. It is noted that because of this work, the sand starts to disappear was in existence.
3 / The same study, in Chapter 4, supports the complexity and the impossibility of analyzing the issue in all its entity. For example, never mentioned the erosion caused by the south wind.
4 / In point 4.3.1 of the study explains that data were taken on the beach just three days, two in July and one in August 2006, saying the same study that we must be cautious with the results because of this, because with these three days of field work are impossible to predict future than fifty years.
5 / You can observe that the study does not consider that because the newspaper inserts, the continuity of growth or decline in the gross sand is altered, giving rise to great leaps in evolution.

All this suggests that such study is insufficient to make the decision to execute one or more piers, and we do not know for sure if this action will cause, for example, that the blind channel height the island of la Horadada. In such a complex system do not talk about the possible consequences on the rest of the bay system.
For all this, in my humble opinion, and recognizing the good work done by the Department of Oceanography and Coastal University, and the good intentions of the organizations that have powered the study, I encourage you to continue taking data and expand that study, until no doubt as the result of an action as risky and unpredictable consequences for the system today in the Bay of Santander and its port.
Glad to provide the information that I have in my hands, and my head reminds carefully. Javier Yllera Palazuelo

architect.
